"Empty Nest Syndrome"
Sierra has left home for the weekend for the first time ever! She's at the beach with her aunt and we'll be picking her up on Sunday. It's so strange not having her here. Of course I know she's having a great time and probably not missing us at all, because I remember when we went to the wedding in NJ, she barely even saw me at all and never said a word about missing Haywood, who was back at home. I guess this is a little segue into how it will be in about 3 weeks when she starts kindergarten. Which to me means - "time to pound pavement and start looking for a new job." While I have enjoyed my time off while Sierra is here to keep me company, I have discovered in less than a day that it is not nearly as much fun just being here without her, and while I'm sure I'd have more time to work on things that she doesn't like helping with, it is the ideal motivator to get me out there before the last of my skills are gone. And to those of you who might be wondering about the return to VZ - currently there's a hiring freeze, so at least in the short term, it's not something that will be happening.
So, now, off to find something fun to do today. Unfortunately, I am recovering from a nice little virus that has impaired my ability to see and to walk, so it may be challenging indeed. Maybe a nice trip to a local nursery would be a good bet - I need to start some landscaping around our new driveway, which we haven't driven on yet - kind of like with a new car, I'm dreading that first little dent :-)
