Line07: in middle and high school;

Line09: WHEREAS the United Stated Department of Education promotes
Line10: physical education growth by awarding grants and contracts
Line11: to improve physical education programs for all kindergarten
Line12: through 12th-grade students and thus expects positive result
Line13:
Line14: WHEREAS reports on physical education are only required by
Line15: parties that accept grants authorized by Subpart 10-Physical
Line16: Education of the No Child Left Behind Act;
Line17:
Line18: WHEREAS only ten percent of states require physical
Line19: in every grade, only one state meets with the recommended
Line20: amounts of physical education, only nineteen states require
Line21: form of student assessment in physical education, and only
Line22: states require physical education grades to be calculated in
Line23: students’ Grade Point Averages as of 2010;
Line24:
Line25: WHEREAS approximately seventeen percent of Americans ages
Line26: two to nineteen are obese as of 2007-2008;
Line27:
Line28: WHEREAS exercising during the school day has shown improved
Line29: academic achievement, built self esteem, reduced childhood
Line30: obesity and the diseases associated with it, and healthy die
Line31: dietary habits;

Line33: THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by this student congress that
Line34: minors in grades kindergarten through twelve receive higher
Line35: quality public physical education through extensive training
Line36: of teachers and required physical education or gym classes
Line37: in all public schools in the United States, which may be
Line38: monitored under national government through an improved NCLB
Line39: report system, and be modeled after progressive school
Line40: systems domestically and internationally; not doing so will
Line41: contribute to the growing childhood obesity epidemic.
